Trial Production Starts for Domestic Plant of Key Pesticide Intermediate

Part of the plant of a 5,500 t/a specialty chemical project in China has obtained approval for trial production. Its core product, 2-nitro-3-methylbenzoic acid, serves as a key intermediate for chlorantraniliprole insecticide. The trial period runs from Oct 2026 to Oct 2027. Once fully operational, this intermediate project will improve the domestic supply chain of amide pesticide raw materials, reduce downstream agrochemical enterprises’ reliance on imports, expand the company’s fine chemical portfolio and accelerate the localization of high-end pesticide intermediates.
